HOW CERTIFICATION WORKS
To become a Shout-Up! certified venue, you must be able to commit to training all staff members and to implement policies outlining how you will monitor and intervene in sexual harassment.
LOCATION
Shout-Up! operates in a range of locations in the UK, this depends on whether that area has received funding to run the scheme, read this article about how funding could work in your area.

STATUS
To be a Shout-Up! venue:
you must already be a licensed premises or be opening a licensed premies,
your venue must not be subject to any investigations by the local authority, your local licensing committee or the police,
you must be able to ensure 100% of your team complete Shout-Up! training,
you must maintain staff training with all new hires and pass 6-monthly checks.
TRAINING
If you are eligible to become a Shout-Up! venue you must:
have all senior staff members or team leaders attend an in-person training day and receive their own certification valid for 2 years
have all team members complete an online training session and receive their own certification valid for 2 years
create and make public a sexual harassment policy
continue to train every new team member for the duration of the certification, 2 years
comply with 6-monthly checks
publicly share your Shout-Up! certification with digital and in venue promotion.
HOW THE TRAINING WORKS
TRAINING TEAM
Shout-Up! training programmes are led by Rape Crisis Centres across the UK, the training is informed by their deep understanding of sexual violence (which includes sexual harassment) and its impact on the people who experience it and the people around them.
FACE-TO-FACE TRAINING
Every member of staff in a managerial and supervisory roles attends an in-person, group training session.
The training will be provided by the team from a Rape Crisis Centres at a venue local to you.
Managers and supervisors will learn:
the ways in which sexual harassment shows up at work and in the nighttime economy
why venues have a duty of care to eliminate sexual harassment
how they can play an active role in making the venue safe for everyone.
ONLINE TRAINING
Every staff member must completed an online training course within 6-8 weeks of the face-to-face training.
There are 4 modules to complete with tests throughout. When each person has passed the certification process, they will be certified for 2 years before they must refresh their knowledge.
The certificate is transferable between Shout-Up! certified venues.
All new staff members must complete the online training course and venue management must be able to explain to new staff members how Shout-Up! works in their venue.
All venues will receive SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE FROM THE SHOUT-UP! TEAM FOR THE 2 YEARS FOLLOWING THEIR CERTIFICATION.

create and publicise your sexual harassment policy
keep all staff trained and informed
embed a culture of zero tolerance to sexual harassment in your venue
support you if and when incidents occur
